Overview

Immerse yourself into the ultimate skiing pleasure.
The amazing mountains around Atlin have become the heliski area with the best weather conditions in Canada. This area offers everything a snow enthusiast could ask for. Endless runs with up to 6,500 feet (2,000 m) vertical, steep glaciers and first class tree skiing will satisfy even the most demanding guest. From the prime heliski terrain used exclusively by Klondike Heliski, runs can be selected to suit varying abilities from first-time heliskiers to advanced or expert skiers/boarders.
Klondike Heliskiing's exclusive permit area for heliskiing encompasses 5,000 square kilometers (1950 square miles), which corresponds to half the size of Tirol/Austria. The beauty of the land is breathtaking and fascinates every visitor. The area in the south is in the Taku River drainage, which flows into the Pacific Ocean south of Juneau, Alaska. Runs of up to 2,000 meters (6,000 vertical feet) are available here. The areas to the north are in the headwaters of the Yukon River, which drains into the Arctic Ocean 3,000 km (1,800 miles) away. The lakes are all at an elevation of approximately 700 meters (2,200 feet) and the mountain peaks rise up to 2,800 meters (8,400 feet). At these elevations and latitudes the powder is awesome and your physical condition is not affected by altitude.
Spring skiing and snowboarding in Atlin is like no other place on the planet. Cold nights and temperatures at around zero Celsius during the day preserve the awesome quality of the powder well into May. In April the sun shines from 5:00 AM until 9:00 PM. Do not forget your sunscreen and sunglasses!
Experienced Guides
Klondike Heliskiing’s pilots are experienced mountain pilots. All KHS guides are dedicated professionals and certified members of internationally recognized guides' associations; and high standards are maintained through regular training programs. These multilingual guides are very familiar with the Atlin area and enjoy the full trust of guests immediately. The helicopters are checked by engineers daily and therefore meet the high, world renowned Canadian safety standards for transport. Klondike Heliskiing uses Eurocopter ASTAR or BELL 407 helicopters, which are able to transport five guests and a guide. These machines are agile and very powerful, and can land in places where it would be impossible for bigger helicopters to land.
Transportation
Klondike Heliskiing is the only heliski company using both helicopters and airplanes for transportation of their guests. They are therefore able to reach every imaginable point within the area, utilizing the full 5,000 square kilometers of the terrain. The first group will be flown in the helicopter to the slopes chosen for that particular day while the other groups are shuttled to the area via airplane, which lands on frozen lakes or flat glaciers. For the actual heliskiing, helicopters are of course used for all groups. One group is being whisked up to ski while the other groups are descending. There is virtually no waiting time. All groups meet for lunch. At the end of the day the airplane takes the group back to Atlin. Only tracks remain in the snow.
